Painters in Hamilton
Century homes, plaster walls and some of the finest old woodwork in the region.
A great deal of Hamilton’s housing is more than a century old — brick homes in Kirkendall, Westdale and Durand with plaster walls, tall baseboards and original woodwork. Painting them is careful, preparation-heavy work. The newer streets of Ancaster, Stoney Creek and the Mountain are a different job altogether.
What homes in Hamilton tend to need
- Plaster cracks need to be cut out and properly repaired, not just filled
- Paint in older homes can contain lead, so scraping and sanding have to be handled with that in mind
- Original doors and trim are often worth stripping and repainting rather than replacing
- Brick, stucco and wooden trim on the same exterior each need their own preparation
